(I interviewed my cooperating teacher and this is my reflection.)
Every teacher was once a student. We all passed childhood stage where we all dreamt impossible. As we grow older and be more mature, we see persons and came up with ideas on what career we are going to take. Personally, I am inspired by my high school Math teacher who taught us stress-free and all smile. Truly, a good teacher might unknowingly encourage their students to follow their path. This ignites my fighting spirit on becoming a teacher that students will look up to. Not to elevate myself but to inspire students. Family also affects how we see and plan our future and I agree with sir Joel's statement that they are a source of strength and what we do is what we think would help our family. Teaching may not give high salary that will surely bring up family's financial status but it is the noblest profession. One fact about being a teacher is having a principle to follow which is a part of being a teacher. My cooperating teacher believes on Essentialism, I would not question her for subscribing with those because I also believe that a student learns better if s/he knows the value of it. Who wouldn't want to know what will help a person in the future, right? It is just like we are about to go on a long trip and the knowledge we have is our baggage. We don't want to carry burdens since this is going to be a long trip, therefore, it is indeed vital to pick only what's essential. Going back to teaching, let's pick what's essential and make it as comprehensive as possible to make retention of knowledge longer. We are facilitators of knowledge, we are in-charge of choosing what to give our students. I may say it is a professional role of a teacher but we should also display a parent figure or at least create a friendly ambiance because we are not just focusing on the cognitive but also the affective and psychomotor. As of now, their school is offering distance modular learning but they are also using online meetings every Monday as a supplementary activity. We all are adapting on this new set-up and I appreciate all teachers and schools for being open to all suggestions of new mode of teaching just for the students to continue learning without risking the stakeholders of a school. Soon I’ll also become a teacher and I hope face-to-face classes are already accepted. Distance learning are not easy for both the teacher and the learner. However, as a teacher, I should carry what it takes to properly deliver lessons that I am supposed to do in the near future, may it be through distance learning modality. I will keep my cooperating teacher's message for us, aspiring teachers. Love really surpasses all odds. Teaching will never be an easy task but with love for humanity, care, and passion to teach, teaching turns to a lighter task.
