In this blog, I have posted my webinars attended along with my reflection.
Reflection:
In pursuing a teaching career, Field Studies are vital because they will create opportunities for first-hand experiences that encourage critical thinking, letting the pre-service teachers practice teaching and observe in an actual classroom scenario. As the title of the webinar says, experiential learning because we firmly believe that experience is the best teacher. We really won't know the level of difficulties and the problems that we may face in the actual teaching field if we don't do practices or field studies. Here, I learned the importance of field studies, the must-dos especially on making e-portfolios. We can maximize the use of technologies since we are using electronic platforms. I also acquired tips in creating my e-portfolio.
This webinar enlightens us, future teachers, on what to expect in our career path. This starts from stepping on the first year of the education program and to the pre-service teaching. We are still in the context of cyber so the Teaching Education Institutions and Cooperating Schools must continue to strive to sufficiently prepare the next batch of teachers to teach in the post-pandemic, new normal environment. Hence, in addition to the current preparations being undertaken to deliver courses by means of flexible modalities, the Field Study and Practice Teaching courses also need to be redesigned in ways that are compatible with the present situation. We are informed of the changes and even the expected situations after graduating. We may prepare for the BLEPT which will happen in September 2022. There are also additional requirements in applying for the examination due to the pandemic so we really have to take time in preparation, aside from reviewing. Claiming that we may be hired in a school, we are given a chance to get a glimpse of professional development. Taking notes on the stages of the profession from novice to expert. I am reminded of the challenges that I will meet upon pursuing my chosen career and while aiming for the betterment of my profession.
Below are some of the other webinars that I participated and I am still wanting to join future teaching-related webinars to further strengthen my knowledge and comprehension of my teaching career. I would also like to share that I participated in the online tutorial for RCHI children from April - June 2021 which gave me a chance to facilitate and stressed out for not knowing the solution to online teacher problems such as internet connectivity and unresponsive learners.
